Thanks for sharing these stories and insights, Acro. Good stuff to think about whether one is in an LTR or not. I'm very impressed with your process (step forward, reflect, grow, step forward...)

i mean this sounds innocent. maybe he means it and he is concerned about you? this is something i would say to a good friend if i didn't hear from in a month. the fact that it triggers you means this is potentially a LE material. the way you describe him, you idealize him.

so, what i would say next? in the spirit of radical honesty, i would ask: "why do you ask? are you OK? is there something you want to tell me?"

I said I have strong feelings for you and we can't be friends because I want more and it's too painful. So go make things work with your SO. I'm going back into the world of dating to see what I can find.
After compulsively dating for a while, I am trying really hard to take a break right now from dating apps and from dating. Trying to figure out who I am without seeking validation and identity from another.
I think this is brilliant. And something people maybe aren't used to--someone being radically honest about what's simply too painful. Looks like you are looking out for your own best interest. That is not something I was taught in my upbringing, so it's not surprising that I'm just now trying to do it. I haven't dated in while, but if I did, I hope I'd care for myself like you are doing. You are certainly worth it.
I hope you live a life you’re proud of, and if you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start all over again.
